There are these two young fish swimming along, and they happen to meet an older fish swimming the other way, who nods at them and says, “Morning, boys, how’s the water?” And the two young fish swim on for a bit, and then eventually one of them looks over at the other and goes, “What the hell is water?”
Just like that fish in the story that doesn’t understand the thing that sustains him, many humans too do not understand the thing that sustains them; the earth. I believe that humans are the enemy of earth whether they choose to believe it or not.
I was always very aware of my surroundings starting at a young age. My parents said that even when I was a infant I was able to follow conversations at the dinner table and at parties. I would make eye contact, laugh at appropriate times, never cry in public, so on. They said it was like I was wise beyond my years, stuck in a baby’s body. This was not the first time I had ever heard someone say this to me. I do feel that I am aware of my surroundings beyond the knowledge of an average 14 year old girl. When I was in elementary school, teachers would always compliment the fact that I could with hold friendships with the special or new kid that nobody knew how to talk to. I made friends with all the kids that didn’t speak English, because although they did not understand what I was speaking to them in English and I did not understand what they were speaking to me in another language or a language of their own, it was easy to their understand body language. I did not speak through words with kids like these, I spoke through body language. Everything has a language of its own, the grass, a cat, a flock of seagulls, so on. Sight, sound, touch, taste everything takes part in it. Just like all living things have their own body laungage tThe earth has a body language of its own as well and it is slowly but surely speaking to us, humanity. I believe that the human race needs to open their eyes and interpret the body language of the earth,
I have felt ashamed of the earth, and I have felt ashahed of the people on it. To make a change you need to read your surroundings and respond. Kindness is the key to striving. Kindness is the key to world peace and kindness is the way to get what you want. I believe that people need to learn the body language of the earth. If we could do that we could all work together. Fixing things one way at a time in unity instead of dealing with things on our own.
